Wu Ye Dancong, literally “Dark Leaf Dancong,” gets its name from its deep green leaf color (locally referred to as “Wu” for dark). Its leaves are broader than those of other tea varieties. In the Chaozhou dialect, darker colors are called “Wu,” so this variety is known as “Da Wu Ye” or “Big Dark Leaf.” Da Wu Ye Dancong is derived from a single plant that was selected from the natural hybrid offspring of the Phoenix Shuixian tea plant group on Phoenix Mountain, grown through sexual reproduction. It is a small tree type, with medium-sized leaves and buds. Da Wu Ye is known for its intensely aromatic profile, characterized by its yellow branch aroma. The finished tea has a rich fragrance and a refreshing, sweet taste. To preserve its natural aroma, the best Wu Ye teas are generally lightly roasted. The brewed tea has a bright, clear orange-yellow color. It features a pronounced sweet aftertaste, a hallmark of the Dancong style, and is renowned for its durability over multiple infusions.

The dry tea leaves are relatively thick and sturdy, dark brown-black in color, with some yellowish veins visible on the leaves;
The steeped leaves are brightly yellow-green and tender in texture.

● Tea Liquor:
The infusion is a deep, bright yellow, with a pronounced bitterness and astringency that slowly dissolves, yielding a lingering sweet aftertaste, gradual salivation, and a lingering aroma in the throat.

● Flavor:
A strong and lasting sweetness, slow-refreshing taste, and a lingering aroma.
